THE
CUP OF WHITE NIGHTS
June, 6 – June, 8 2008
St. Petersburg, Russia

THE
CUP OF WHITE NIGHTS is an original three-day international barista marathon.
This event will have both competitive and educational
character,
for participants and spectators can see distinctive features
of a quality product and various work techniques of experts
from different cities.
The basic idea of competition is to make quality espresso popular,
to increase a number of connoisseurs of this drink, to develop
and promote barista’s skills, to present the culture of making
and servicing coffee drinks in different countries, to change habitual
schemes used in the Barista Championships (under aegis of SCAE
- Specialty Coffee Association of Europe).
The cup presents both team and personal system of competition.
Each team consists of two baristas, thus each member of the team
should take part in all stages of the championship. The total sum
of points received by each member of the team is a final estimation
for this team. The maximum quantity of participating teams is 14,
i.e. 28 barista. The number of representatives from one region
is not limited. Another difference of the cup is in open refereeing
system.
The cup program consists of four particular competitions:
- classics
- preparation and submission of 4 espresso and 4 cappuccino
- latte-art
- figures are carried out by any style (etching, the latte-art,
the multi-art)
- coffee and alcohol - preparation and submission of 6 drinks
on the basis of coffee and alcohol
- speed making - preparation of the certain quantity of drinks
for a while
Prospective quantity of official visitors is more than 300
person, including representatives of Consulates, international
